BPBD Warns of Extreme Weather in Jakarta

The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) urges residents to remain alert to the impact of the extreme weather that has occurred in the last few days.

We urge residents to avoid activities on the banks of rivers

Jakarta BPBD Head, Isnawa Adji said the extreme weather that occurred could cause several disasters, including fallen trees, landslides, collapsed buildings, and drownings.

"We urge residents to avoid activities on the banks of rivers, reservoirs, and lakes when heavy rain falls," he expressed, Monday (7/8).

BPBD: Be Aware of Tidal Wave in North Jakarta

He explained Jakarta BPBD recorded quite a lot of disasters occurring during the last two years when extreme weather occurred.

During 2022, there were 378 fallen trees, 14 landslides, 56 collapsed buildings, and 20 drowned victims.

"Then in 2023, there were 234 trees fallen, 22 landslides, 31 buildings collapsed, and 33 victims drowned," he explained.

He added residents can monitor the latest information about weather from BMKG and the website, www.bpbddki.go.id to get information related to extreme weather.

"If you find an emergency that requires help, immediately contact the Jakarta Siaga 112 call center," he stated.
